Central Richmond Home Overbid Spotlight (Featured Photo)

Maximum Overbid of the Week: Central Richmond Home Sold for $1,875,000 Over Asking

A $1,875,000 overbid in Central Richmond. Yes, on a home already asking $4,950,000.

The 1914 Craftsman at 244 16th Avenue closed on November 5 for $6,825,000, or 37.88% over asking. The listing reports 12 days on market.

There’s some serious house behind the number: five bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, 3,665 square feet, preserved original woodwork & built-ins, and an extensive renovation that included a new foundation. Oh, and a large, level backyard (a welcome bonus in the city).

Here’s another number worth knowing: public records show a sale for $2,200,000 in May 2023. The subsequent renovation was substantial, so that earlier price isn’t a clean measure of appreciation.

But the gap between asking and closing? That’s the headline. This one finished $1,875,000 above where it started… quite the ending for a Richmond District Craftsman.
