When my wife and I moved to San Francisco from the East Coast with our newborn, we quickly realized that navigating the beast of a real estate market in SF required a unique kind of agent. Luckily we found Alex.

We spent 5 months looking for a home with Alex. In the process, he guided us thru 12 bids, all the typical multi-offer, SF auction-style, which can be anxiety provoking to say the least. “Are we bidding too much? Are we not bidding enough?!” Alex kept us grounded on this emotional roller coaster! We were able to tap into his unique market knowledge to navigate these conversations about how much to offer. Alex put us in touch with experts to discuss potential renovation projects on unloved properties. We picked his brain about every single micro-neighborhood in the city, talked single family vs condo and which side of the street to buy on in the Richmond if you like a sunny back yard. He is a wealth of knowledge to say the least.

When we found a property that we loved, but were unsure about a few things that came up in the inspection, Alex’s connections came to the rescue. Alex had the personal cell phone number of the inspector who had done the report and was able to put us in touch. This conversation gave my wife and I the reassurance that we needed to bid aggressively and got us our home. Without Alex this would not have happened. We highly recommend working with Alex to find your home in this amazing city!

Wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your assistance and help during the purchase of my new [home] in San Francisco. You did a great job of working with me all Summer long trying to find my dream house on my crazy schedule. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, but by Fall you had identified my criteria and started showing me homes that suited my needs. The house we found has a great ocean view and is close to the beach with a big yard and potential to add on.

Having Alex sell our house was a great decision. I loved how knowledgeable he was about the market and the city in general. I’m a numbers girl and Alex knows them, I love The Goods and the tally up of overbids on the blog, really shows his attention to detail.
I have to admit I am a tough client as I fancy myself an arm chair real estate expert, but Alex exceeded my expectations. I don’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone I know looking to buy and sell in the Bay Area. I always know he is going to bring his vast knowledge to the table and deal honestly with everyone involved.

Best in the business. Alex was a pleasure to do business with when we sold our place in SF… in fact Alex has always been a pro even for the last 4 years as we’ve asked him market related questions etc about SF… without paying him a dime for his help… he is just a great guy. Knows tons about the SF scene and will get the job done fairly for everyone… Knock it out of the park w Alex Clark! You are rad at what you do. I really appreciate all your work, professionalism and bad-assness…. I hope you are stoked on yourself because you are totally rad. I hope to refer tons of biz to you.

Alex Clark did a fantastic job as my agent. He was incredibly responsive. It was rare that a communication would go more than 5 minutes without being answered. He listened to what I wanted and helped me find it, despite some difficult multi-bid situations. Alex worked tirelessly to look for what I wanted and also to make sure I saw other comparable options on the market so I could make an informed choice and know that I was paying a reasonable price. Alex’s knowledge of the local market is impressive. He was friendly but firm with the agents on the other side and was instrumental in getting me a large credit on the purchase price after we were already in contract. I will absolutely use him again the next time I buy or sell real estate and would refer him to anyone else looking to do so.

After having mostly settled into our new home, it’s finally time write a few words about our realtor – Alex Clark. Whether you are looking to buy or sell (and we used Alex for both), Alex knows the San Francisco market and how to get a deal closed, regardless of how stiff the competition might seem.

On the buy-side, Alex helped us get a true gem of single family home in the Inner Richmond by working patiently, but persuasively, with the Seller, who was hesitant to let go of the house after having it in the family for over forty years. But by making a personal connection with the Seller’s agent, and nudging us gently to get to where we needed to be to make a winning offer, we came out on top. And if you are familiar with how competitive the San Francisco real estate market can be and how quickly it’s moving, that’s no small achievement. On the sell-side, Alex’s knowledge of the neighborhood, comps, and how to market the property to generate packed open houses, helped us get the most for our condo. Bottom line – we crushed the closet comp listing by 20%, which we attribute directly to Alex’s understanding of the market.

Alex worked tirelessly to help us make both our buying and selling goals a reality, and above it all, he’s a genuinely good guy and easy to get along with.

Thanks Alex!

Alex is fabulous. He’s super knowledgeable, personable, completely reliable, responsive, honest, thorough and on your side. Also very smart. He’s the guy you want. I found him through a web search while living in Seattle and working on a relocation to SF. Stumbled onto his blog and figured that the person writing that blog was the person we wanted on our case to find our house for us. Turns out it was an excellent plan. My husband and I both love him and 4 years later still love our house. SF is an insane real estate market and Alex knows it like the back of his hand and knows how to play the game. And win! He might even turn you onto a little gem of a neighborhood you’ve never heard of before, like he did for my cousin. Great, talented guy, has a really
lovely family, and is tops at what he does. Recommend him 100%.

We had an outstanding experience with Alex Clark listing and selling our Noe Valley / Glen Park Victorian. He is highly knowledgable, extremely patient and most importantly endowed with great instincts about how to handle the complex and challenging real estate market of San Francisco. I would recommend him without hesitation.

Many of you know that Linda and I recently sold [XXXX] Chestnut and bought [XXXX] Chestnut. What you probably don’t know about is the guy who made it happen for us: Alexander Clark
Alex killed it on both deals. He knew exactly how to market XXXX and held our hands while we dealt with the stress of moving out, staging the place, showing it, taking offers, and dealing with the buyer. In the end we got about 25% more than we expected, giving us the opportunity to reach a lot higher for our next place.
On the flipside, Alex was incredibly patient while we waited for the right opportunity to buy (we can be a bit picky…). He never pushed us to look outside of our preferred neighborhoods even though inventory was nonexistent, and even when a few less-than-perfect places came along he didn’t lobby for bids. Ironically, by not gunning for the quick sale, that’s exactly what he ended up getting – we won the first place we went for!
So if you’re thinking about doing a real estate deal in San Francisco [insert joke about market here], Alex is your man. Check out his work on theFrontSteps.com and ping me if you want an intro.

I had the pleasure of working with Alex on two transactions in San Francisco, as a seller first, and then as a buyer. He helped us find the right buyer at the right price and terms in a matter of days for our downtown condo. Alex subsequently helped buy “the unicorn” in Noe where we were able to out compete a higher all cash offer.

I first met Alex through his fantastic blog, theFrontSteps.com. I found him to be very knowledgable and connected and all around a great person. I have recommended him to others and will continue to do so. Feel free to contact me if you have more detailed questions about Alex.

Alex was instrumental at helping me find the right home and sell my home at the same time, a hat trick that I thought was impossible in the crazy San Francisco real estate market. He’s a real pro and anticipated all the usual and unusual surprises that happen in a sell and buy transaction.
