Vote for Barack Obama

As many of you know, I try to steer clear of political posts, but this time, I can’t. If I didn’t at least announce who I am voting for and do my part getting the word out, and that second coming of the idiots McCain and Joe Sixpack Palin make it to office, I will seriously cash in my chips and move to Mexico, Italy, France, Spain, Hell…anywhere would be better than another 4 years of this crap! The choice is clear….

VOTE OBAMA! Please.

Get in line with the “squiggly area” way of thinking. After all, “culture is attracted to squiggles”.

  1. I’d die before I vote for anybody with Sarah on their ticket. Sarah is the ultimate insult to women, the ultimate insult to mothers of children with disability, the ultimate insult to struggling single working mums, the ultimate insult to any mother who has too much laundry and bandaids to put on knees to get a haircolor change every other day. There are plenty of successful business women in the BayArea, and in the US, and Sarah doesnt come even close to legitimate, honorable success – not when she’s proud as a rooster perched on a pile of manure to be the governor of a state SMALLER than the single city of SF (Dianne Feinstein anybody?)

John, who is the opposite as Sarah in experience and respectability, was ok for me until the last debate, when he started on his $5000 healthcare plan. This is a STEP BACK, as the actual law ALREADY has a ~$5800 plan (that we use). Obviously both of them have never had a medical bill in their lifetime, and never had to challenge or sue or benefit from a class action lawsuit (any StLuke class action lawsuit beneficiary here?)… get real, at least for one day.

Vote for Obama? sure. Vote AGAINST Sarah? you bet!

  2. Already dropped my ballot in the mail.

While I voted for Obama, I still don’t feel this time I voted for a party that represents my views. I still feel this time, once again, I voted for the lesser of two evils. I voted against McCain/Palin. I also voted FOR Obama. But I don’t think I really voted 100% for the Democratic Party.

  3. Nobama for me for sure. Why do you care in this dumb state Alex? It isn’t even like it matters in the slightest. I am curious to see what you say when he really screws everything up. Didn’t you read the recent report by UCLA economists that states that Roosevelt extended the depression for 7 years with his New Deal? Yup, big government with free health care will fix everything. Viva la France (woring quite well forthem, no?). And SF Mum, you are an embarrassment for ripping on Sarah Palin in that way. Tell me what you have accomplished on your own. Um, yup. You should be ashamed for saying she is an insult to women. Are you the one that decides what is legitimate, honorable. I’m done with this site. I prefer real estate talk which is why I am here. If I wanted hot air, I would go to Politico.

  4. “I am curious to see what you say when he really screws everything up”.

LOL. The last 8 years have been a complete and utter failure. Wake up!

  5. A recent paper, written 60+ years later, found that Roosevelt extended the Great Depression by seven years? Why seven years? Were those the years not including the war? A definitive economic hindsight. Here’s some more definitive economic hindsight for you. If Bush would have insisted Greenspan let Treasury rates resume normal cycles, exotic loan packages and credit derivatives never would have snowballed into what they became.

  6. We as renters must vote OBAMA! We must take away from the rich by taxing them, and redistribute to 40 Year Old renters who are tired of paying $3,000+ for a 2 bedroom apartment in the city!

    Government handouts all the way!

  7. Our system is broken and neither party is willing (nor able) to make the necessary (and painful changes) required to right the ship. To say that Obama & the Democrat’s are the answer is a very naive’ position. If you take a serious look at the roots of the current economic crisis you can clearly trace it back to poor decisions by BOTH parties. You could also argue that some of this even started during the Clinton administration with the era of mass-speculative technology investment & game playing(Frank Quattrone), options back-dating (Brocade) & extremely cheap money thanks to Alan Greenspan. Throw in a few “non-controllables” such as the March 2000 NASDAQ meltdown and “9/11” and it’s not too hard to figure out how we go here. The mortgage fiasco was simply an offshoot of the other crap that i just mentioned.

I’m disgusted with both parties and can’t believe that Obama & McCain are the best that this country can yield in terms of potential leadership. We are in deep shit regardless of who is elected because neither has the ability to address the issues in a serious manner. I’ll be voting independent.

  8. “If Bush would have insisted Greenspan let Treasury rates resume normal cycles, exotic loan packages and credit derivatives never would have snowballed into what they became”.

Are you serious? So if Bush kicked Greenspan in the nuts and told him what to do back then we’d all be good right now?

  9. Look at what I responded to, Aubear1. Somebody else said that if only FDR’s big government policies wouldnt have been enacted, the Great Depression could have been shortened by seven years.

Come on now. Who the hell knows? And “who the hell knows” was my main point.

But “The Ownership Society” was a Bush policy, not a Clinton policy. There are soundbites one can find on the Internet, literally, of Bush at an LISC summit wondering why an immigrant family with low income and relatively little credit history can’t just as easily own a home as someone else.

    http://www.hud.gov/news/speeches/liscsummit.cfm

Right? This is a HUD web site.

So, “We’d be all good right now” ??

    I can’t say that.

What I can say is this. People who say the Great Depression would have been shortened by seven years if FDR wouldn’t have enacted what he enacted are full of it. Why seven? Why not five? Oh yeah. That’s right. WWII happened.

    Again,

    http://www.hud.gov/news/speeches/liscsummit.cfm

And as for Greenspan, “The Giant Pool of Money”: http://www.thislife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?episode=355

If you don’t see a correlation between “The Ownership Society” and Greenspan’s manipulation of rates, you are in the minority.

  10. You are being far too generous in labeling “ownership” as a “Bush Policy”. I’d have to say that this notion predates him by a few hundred years in this country. Sure, the article points towards the specifics of enabling more Americans (namely minorities & low income families) to participate in home ownership, but what’s wrong with that? It’s synonymous with upward mobility and self-reliance. The missing piece in all of this is PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and “some” GOVERNMENT REGULATION. Regulation is needed specifically for those who are not able to handle themselves including unqualified buyers, unscrupulous loan originators and “wall-street geniuses” with our next “exotic financial instrument” to be packaged and sold to some poor SOB overseas. Regulation & oversight are BIPARTISAN responsibilities that BOTH parties have failed to consistently deliver. Laying this at Jr’s feet is a little too rich.

I don’t disagree with the linkage between “ownership” and the building pressure on central bankers around the world. I just think Greenspan is way over rated and was the benefactor of some excellent timing. The interesting part of this is that the U.S. roots of what you call the “ownership society” can actually be traced back to early pension reform under Kennedy with his “President’s Committee on Corporate Pension Plans” back in 1961. This reform demanded more accountability & transparency for corporate pension fund managers who could no longer be short on money when people retired. “Sorry, Charlie” wasn’t going to cut it anymore. This put a hell of a lot more pressure on fund managers to deliver, which put a hell of a lot more pressure on Corporate Boards to deliver, which put a hell of a lot more pressure on CEO’s to deliver, etc, etc, etc. This period also saw rise to the 401(k) legislated by Congress in 1978 and a growing & more broad class of “owner” that voted with their dollars every pay period when they invested in specific funds.

  11. It isn’t my label. The “Ownership Society” was a specific initiative, a policy with that exact name — a specific agenda enacted under the Bush administration. When the president of the United States wonders aloud, (to paraphrase) “Why can’t a recent immigrant with limited resources, income and credit history not purchase a home?” The answer to that question is because they cannot afford it.

Systematic deregulation happened. Credit markets opened. Treasury rates were kept artificially low. All of this stuff is fact and readily obtainable. I’m not trying to suggest anything other than we are now able to piece together what the heck went wrong.

  12. “therefore it’s all bush’s fault?”

Excellent summary yourself. Naah. Not what I was getting at.

But hey. You misread what I wrote before, and you didn’t care to think about what I wrote this time.

    That’s cool.

  13. my initial point if you read my initial post:

“But to blame Greenspan for everything is wrong. Whether it was Democratic support for Fannie/Freddie, Republican desire for deregulation, Wall Street greed, feckless rating agencies, predatory lenders or irresponsible borrowing by homeowners, there’s plenty of blame to go around.”

    http://finance.yahoo.com/tech-ticker/article/101108/Greenspan%27s-Fall-Mistakes-Were-Made-But-Not-Just-by-%27the-Maestro%27?tickers=%5Edji,%5Egspc,%5Eixic,TLT,SPY,UUP,DIA

  14. I blame Greenspan, Bush, Wall Street execs and lobbyists, top Dems asleep at the wheel, unscrupulous mortgage brokers, uninformed consumers and real estate professionals. Not necessarily in that order (but the top five are pretty much in order of blame sharing.)

  15. I blame the high school system that offers no personal finance education.

In the US, the culture is “when the kid is 18 he/she is out of the house”. But the kids are pretty poorly equipped to be out of the house.

  16. All you people voting for Obama are blind and pathetic. I wouldn’t vote for that lying, cheating, communistic terrorist if my last breath depended on it. It’s so typical of you parasitic DUMOcrats to expect handouts. “Spread the wealth”?! You’ve GOT to be f-#&ing kidding me, right?! What right do ANY of you have to take from others regardless of what they earn? Try getting a job and working your ass of like the rest of us, you lazy, sorry-ass bastards! I can’t wait to point my finger in all your faces when this Nobama Hussein lets the terrorists teach you a lesson you wish you’d never learned and say, “I TOLD YOU SO!!!”

  17. An interesting article I found that you should all read:

    ___________________________________

THE FACTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO LOOK THEM UP!!!!!!!

    To All My Friends,

This election has me very worried. So many things to consider. About a year ago I would have voted for Obama. I have changed my mind since then. I watch all the news channels, jumping from one to another. But, I feel if you view MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News, you might get some middle ground to work with.

About six months ago, I started thinking ‘where did the money come from for Obama’. I have four daughters who went to college, and we were middle class, and money was tight. We (including my girls) worked hard and there were lots of student loans.

I started looking into Obama’s life. Where has the money come from?

Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California . He is very open about his two years at Occidental. He even admits that he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time. Even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. ‘Barry’ (that was the name he used during his early years) had two roommates during this time, Muhammad Hassan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both Muslims from Pakistan .

During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a ’round the world’ trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia ; next to Hyderabad in India ; three weeks in Karachi , Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate’s family; then off to Africa to visit his father’s family. Where did he get the money for this trip? Nether I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they were in college.

When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New York . It is at this time he asks everyone to call him Barrack – not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia ? It’s not cheap, to say the least. Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe.

After Columbia , he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000 a year. Why Chicago ? Why not New York ? He was already living in New York.

By ‘chance'(?) he met Antoin ‘Tony’ Rezko, born in Aleppo, Syria and a real estate developer in Chicago . Rezko was convicted of fraud and bribery this year, (nice guy?). Rezko, was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Decade’ by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association’.

About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School . Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School ? Where did he get the money for Law School ? More student loans?

After Law school he went back to Chicago . Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with the law firm Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? That’s the firm that represented ‘Rezar’, which is Rezko’s firm. Rezko was one of Obama’s first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago . In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with ‘seed money’ for his U.S. Senate race.

In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in the Kenwood District of Chicago. He paid $1.65 million for the place. While paying off all those previous student loans (?) – Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko’s wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama purchased this new home. Obama has met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.

Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama’s boss. She is now Obama’s chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without consulting with her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here, or am I just stupid?

On May 10, 2008, The Times reported that Robert Malley, an advisor to Obama, was ‘sacked’ after the press found out he was having regular contacts with ‘Hamas’. The same Hamas that controls Gaza and is connected with Iran and terrorism.

Oh, and by the way, remember Obama’s college roommates, the Muslims who where from Pakistan ? They are now in charge of all those ‘small’ internet campaign contributions coming in for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East?

And a final tidbit. On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that Obama made on the ‘This Week’ TV show with George Stephanapoulos. Obama, when talking about his religion said, ‘My Muslim faith’. When questioned about this, it was stated, ‘he made a mistake’. Some mistake!

I got all of the above information on-line. If you would like to check it – Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barack Obama; Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett: Daily Times – Obama visited Pakistan in 1981; The Washington Times – September 7, 2008; The Times May 10, 2008.

Now the BIG question – If I found out all this information on my own, Why haven’t all of our ‘intelligent’ members of the media been reporting this?

A phrase keeps running through my mind – ‘Beware of the enemy from within’!!!?

  18. Perhaps there are SOME out there who are beginning to get ‘the picture’. The following is a narrative taken from Sunday Morning’s televised ‘Meet The Press’. and the author is employed by none other than the Washington Post!! Yeah……the Washington Post of New York and Los Angeles Times fame!! Must say that I’m dually impressed……………… From Sunday’s Televised ‘Meet the Press’ Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag. Obama Explains National Anthem Stance Sun, 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn’ USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain why he doesn’t follow protocol when the National Anthem is played. The General also stated to the Senator that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171… During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. At the very least, ‘Stand and Face It’Senator Obama Live on Sunday states, ‘As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said. ‘There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like To Teach the World To Sing.’ If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.’We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It’s my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails. Perhaps a state or period of mutual concord between our governments. When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice. My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons. Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago. She has her views and I have mine’. Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put aside my hatred. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope. My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country’s First Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America.

WHAAAAAAAT the Hell !!! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you heard it right. This could possibly be our next President. I, for one, am speechless.
    Dale Lindsborg, Washington Post
