You’re guilty of it, we’re guilty of it, your friends, family, co-workers, and peers are guilty of it…coffee in the disposable cup, and even worse, with the plastic lid. You’re ruining it for yourself, and the environment, and we have news for you, a coffee is not only best consumed from a ceramic, glass, or pottery type container, but it’s also best consumed in one place, not on the go, not walking, not running, not shaking, not treadmilling, and especially not through a plastic lid that forces you to suck your beverage through that ridiculously tiny hole!
Next time you get your coffee try this, “I’d like to enjoy my coffee here.” If they don’t offer cups in anything but “to go” form…Go…Leave…Walk out. Not sure where to go? For starters, skip Starbucks, and take your pick from this list of the best coffee houses in San Francisco:

For a coffee lover like myself, thanks for this incredible list. (I have kicked the paper cup habit myself)
Someone always has to be last on a list, and I was just curious why The Grove was last on yours? (Not that I have ever had their coffee, it’s not my type of place)
And where can you find Intelligentsia in San Francisco? I love their stores in Chicago and L.A.

Thanks for the comment. This list was actually a result of our reader poll, and had nothing to do with our coffee tastes. It was last because it got the least amount of votes. We’d have to go back to our original request for nominees as to where to find Intelligentsia…think somewhere near the Embarcadero Center? Or maybe inside it. You can also try Trouble Coffee as they get their beans from them…a special roast.
I know it’s hip to bash Starbucks but to their credit, they are pushing reusable cups and give you a discount if you refill your existing cup and don’t take another one.

Thanks Darren. We’ve been bashing Starbucks for years…call us trend-setters. :-) But really, why even bother going to a massive chain like them in SF when there are so many other excellent alternatives.
